About

The death penalty invokes strong disagreement across the country and throughout modern American history. What role does or should it play in our criminal justice system? Is it an essential deterrent and proper response to the most heinous of crimes or an outdated response, prone to abuse, that does little to prevent tragedies? Join Sphere Education Initiatives on Thursday, January 12th from 7:30 – 8:30 pm Eastern for Challenging Classroom Conversations: Capital Punishment.

Joining Sphere Education Initiatives for this conversation will be a trio of experts: John Malcolm, vice president for the Institute for Constitutional Government and director of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation, Demetrius Minor, national manager of Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, and Clark Neily, senior vice president for legal studies at the Cato Institute.

  • This event will be presented via Zoom.
  • All grades 5–12 educators are eligible to attend.
  • Earn professional development for attending.
